What is the Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital Foundation?
The Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity that raises charitable funds to help Bon Secours Kentucky Health System address the community’s growing health care needs with compassion and excellence. Through charitable support, we are dedicated to helping create healthy communities, advancing clinical innovation and providing an extraordinary experience of care.

Every contribution has a defined impact on the health system’s ability to care for patients at our hospital, as well as through our community outreach efforts.

Why is the Foundation important?
In partnership with the community, we are able to serve the greater good in ways far beyond the standard economic realities of health care. In order to meet the present and future demands of care in the communities we serve, Bon Secours depends on annual contributions from people who believe in our faith-based, mission-driven ministry.

How can I give to the Foundation?
Our goal is to make the gift giving process convenient, flexible and accessible. Many of our patients, families and friends make gifts by check or credit card. Some gain tax benefits by gifting appreciated stock. Others incorporate gifts to the foundation into their estate plans. What is the tax status of the Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital Foundation?
The Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital Foundation meets the requirements to be recognized as 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. This status means that the Foundation is tax-exempt and that it is a qualifying charitable organization.

According to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), to be tax-exempt “an organization must be organized and operated exclusively for exempt purposes set forth in section 501(c)(3), and none of its earnings may inure to any private shareholder or individual. In addition, it may not be an action organization, i.e., it may not attempt to influence legislation as a substantial part of its activities and it may not participate in any campaign activity for or against political candidates.

Organizations described in section 501(c)(3) are commonly referred to as charitable organizations. Organizations described in section 501(c)(3), other than testing for public safety organizations, are eligible to receive tax-deductible contributions in accordance with Code section 170. Our Tax ID Number is 611381952.

What does it mean to be a mission-focused Organization?
The mission of Bon Secours has been "to bring compassion to health care and to be good help to those in need, especially those who are poor and dying. As a System of caregivers, we commit ourselves to help bring people and communities to health and wholeness as part of the healing ministry of Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church."

This mission is further cemented by our Values and Heritage, which provides the foundation for who we are and what we do... providing an environment in the spirit of Christ where healing and hope can flourish. And while the ministry has evolved over the years, the values of Bon Secours remain the same – providing quality health care with an emphasis on respect, quality, justice, compassion, stewardship, integrity, growth and innovation.

A key component of Bon Secours' distinct vision of health care is creating healthy communities. Through Mission & Outreach efforts, Bon Secours is able to effect real, lasting progress in community health.
